If you decide to give up your Russian citizenship, you must bear in mind that the process depends on your individual circumstances. If you have both your Russian internal and external passports and are registered at an address in Russia, you must first unregister from that address. You would normally be required to travel to Russia to do that, but we have an agent in Moscow who would be able to take care of that process for you. He will also be able to obtain a tax clearance certificate mandatory for relinquishing Russian citizenship.

If you try to schedule an appointment on your own, you would not be able to find any appointments in the next few months, but our consular contacts enable us to expedite the process, meaning that we can normally get you a slot in about a week or two.
Apart from the two documents from Russia, you would also need to present a document confirming your new citizenship (e.g. your US passport), as well as any name change document if there is a spelling difference in your name across different passports. All these documents would need to be duly legalized and translated according to consular standards.
